Pre-Op

Initial Scans & Digital Wax-Up

Intraoral scans or impressions are taken and pre-op photos captured. A design technician builds a digital wax-up — the patient's ideal smile and occlusion. The doctor approves this design. It becomes the blueprint that everything downstream must match.

Surgery Day — Pre-Op

Fiducial Markers & Baseline Scans

With the patient numbed, 1–4 fiducial markers are screwed directly into bone — creating a fixed coordinate reference between pre- and post-surgery anatomy. A full intraoral scan and bite registration is captured and sent to the design team before surgery begins.

Remaining teeth are extracted, and bone is modified based on the prosthetic design for an FP1, FP2, or FP3 treatment plan.

Photogrammetry captures the exact spatial position and angulation of every implant with sub-millimeter accuracy — far exceeding intraoral scanning. Proprietary scan caps are attached to each implant, and a new intraoral scan captures the changed tissue and palate anatomy.

Where AI Changes Everything

Multi-Scan Alignment & Wax-Up Adaptation

Today a technician manually aligns fiducial markers from pre-surgery scans to the photogrammetry and tissue scans taken after implant placement — then hand-modifies the approved wax-up to fit the actual post-surgery VDO and jaw relation. Any error here means a wrong bite. ARCHX AI automates this entire step: registering all coordinate systems and adapting the wax-up algorithmically.

Output

Print-Ready STL & Same-Day Seating

The finalized provisional STL is sent to the office for 3D printing in biocompatible resin — Onyx Tough 2 / SprintRay or equivalent. Seated, screws torqued down. With accurate alignment, bite adjustments are minimal. With AI, the goal is near-zero chairside adjustment.
